Privacy notice
What happens to the information you send us through this website, in plain English. Last updated 16 October 2026.
Who we are
This website is run by SonaR Research, based in Scotland. We are responsible for (the "controller" of) any personal information you send us through it. You can reach us at hello@sonarresearch.uk about anything in this notice.
What we collect
This website has no forms and no accounts. We only receive what you choose to send us by email: your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you write.
How it reaches us
Email to hello@sonarresearch.uk is forwarded to our inbox by Cloudflare.
Why we use it
We use your details only to read your message and reply to it. We do not add you to a mailing list, sell your information, or share it with anyone else for their own purposes.
Our lawful basis
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) we rely on our legitimate interests in reading and answering messages people choose to send us, and on your consent in choosing to send them. You can ask us to stop using your information, or to delete it, at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep messages and our replies for up to 24 months after our last exchange with you, then delete them, unless we need to keep them longer because of an ongoing conversation or a legal obligation.
Cookies and analytics
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. If that ever changes, we will update this notice first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Hosting and fonts
The website is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare's servers receive basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the page and keep the service secure. The typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google also receives your IP address when the page loads. Some of these providers may process information outside the UK; where they do, they are responsible for using appropriate safeguards.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Write to hello@sonarresearch.uk and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
